Over the span of five days, you will explore fascinating museums, art centers, cultural villages, and the serene beauty of nature. This meticulously crafted itinerary will guide you through each day, ensuring a memorable and enriching experience.

Trip Overview

This package offers a comprehensive tour of Rwanda’s cultural and historical landmarks. Delve into the past at the King Palace Museum, Rwanda art museum (Presidential palace) and Rwanda liberation Museum. Immerse yourself in traditional culture at the Iby’iwacu Center, and admire contemporary art at Inema Art Gallery. The journey also includes an exploration of stunning natural landscapes such as the ancient Ibanda-Makera Forest.

Tour Plan

Day 01 Southern Province (Nyanza & Huye)

This is going to be a day trip from Kigali to the cultural heart of Rwanda. After having your breakfast get ready for a drive of 2-3 hours

  • Morning (6 m.): Drive to Huye. Visit the Ethnographic Museum, considered one of the finest in East Africa, for a deep dive into Rwandan history and culture.
  • Late (12 m.): Drive to Nyanza. Visit the King's Palace Museum to see the replica of the traditional king's palace and the famous long-horned Inyambo cattle.
  • Rwesero Art Head to this nearby art museum, which was originally intended to be a royal residence but now showcases a collection of Rwandan art.
  • Late Afternoon (5 m.): Drive back to Kigali.
Day 02 Northern Province (Kinigi)

This day involves 2.5 hours’ drive, heading north towards Volcanoes National Park.

  • Morning (8 m.): Drive to Kinigi. The journey will take approximately 2-3 hours.
  • Late Morning (11 m.): Visit Traditional Iby'iwacu Cultural Village (Gorilla Guardians). Spend time at this cultural village run by former poachers. You can see traditional dance performances, learn about Rwandan traditions, and support local conservation efforts.

Afternoon (3 m.): Visit Kinigi Women Village. Visit this women's cooperative near Volcanoes National Park, where you can see local crafts and support women artisans.

Late Afternoon (5 m.): Drive back to Kigali.

Day 03 Eastern Province

This day includes a 2 hours trip to the Eastern Province.

  • Morning (8 m.): Drive to Ibanda Makera Forest. Located in the Kirehe district of the Eastern Province, this forest is undergoing rehabilitation and being developed for eco- tourism.
  • Afternoon (2 m.): Drive back towards Kigali.
  • Late Afternoon (5 m.): Visit Kigali Cultural Village in Rebero for a more relaxed, scenic end to your trip.

Day 04 Central Kigali
  • Morning (8 m.): Kigali Genocide Memorial. Start your tour here to gain a foundational understanding of Rwanda's recent history.
  • Afternoon (1 m.): Campaign against Genocide Museum. This museum, located in the Parliament building, details the military struggle to end the genocide.
  • Late Afternoon (3 p.m.): Kandt House Museum. Visit the former home of German explorer Richard Kandt to explore Rwanda's history during the pre-colonial and colonial
  • Evening (5 m.): Niyo Arts Center. Unwind with a visit to this community-focused art gallery in the Gasabo district, where you can see local art and maybe enjoy the café.
5 End Tour
  • This day will consider approximately 80 kilometers drive to the northeast of Kigali.
    • Morning (8 m.): Drive to Rwanda Liberation Museum, a key historical site that tells the story of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) and its military wing (RPA), which initiated the struggle that ultimately ended the 1994 genocide.
    • Afternoon (1 m.): Drive back to Kigali and visit Rwanda Art Museum, a destination that combines contemporary art with a significant historical site. It is housed in the former Presidential Palace in Kanombe, a building once occupied by former Rwandan President Juvénal Habyarimana, whose assassination triggered the 1994 genocide.
    • Later 5 m: Enjoy and celebrate the Kigali View as you prepare yourself to depart to the airport.
